Regular price £24.00

A chunky 13.3oz undyed natural organic cotton.

Multiple quantities will be cut in a continuous length.

Fabric Description

A mediumweight fabric produced by hand on small looms, with a raised twill weave on the right side, while the wrong side is flat. It has a beautiful speckled appearance from the cottonseed. It could also be classed as denim.

With a strong weave and soft hand feel, this material is the perfect weight and softness for jeans, trousers, skirts, heavier dresses, workwear styles and accessories. The handle will soften over time. The fabric is soft, cosy and malleable. It would make a great base for embroidery and painting.

We also have this fabric in black, light blue, and bleached white.

Match with organic cotton thread in natural.

Ethical & Sustainability Considerations:

The spinning of the organic cotton into yarn, the weaving of the fabric on power looms, and the dyeing of the finished material is all done in a female-led co-operative in rural India, certified Fair Trade by the WFTO (World Fair Trade Organisation). Organic cotton is grown without pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilisers and is picked by hand to retain the integrity of the cellulosic fibre. Non-GMO seeds are used in organic cotton cultivation, ensuring that the farmers are not caught in a web of debt with large companies. This organic cotton is non-certified, being more of a transitional crop to help support farmers and small communities who cannot afford the certification.

Traditional denim uses a lot of water and chemicals in its production; however, this fabric is created using rain-fed organically-cultivated cotton and spun and woven with little electricity. The material itself is biodegradable under the right conditions.

Please note, as this is a handwoven and hand-dyed fabric, woven using organic cotton fibre that is hand-picked and processed, there are likely to be minor irregularities in the weave and colour. We hope you see them, as we do, as part of the charm.

To care for your product

Suitable for washing machines and tumble dryers. Wash with similar colours. To protect fabrics for longer, hand wash in cool water. Turn the machine down to 30 degrees for a more environmentally friendly wash. In Europe alone, if every household turned its washing temperature down to 30°C, we could save 12 million tonnes of CO2 a year. Suitable for irons med-hot temperature on the reverse. We recommend line drying as this reduces energy usage and looks after your textiles for longer (as they don't get bashed around in your tumble dryer). Use a mild detergent, light botanical refresher or even steam the item you've made in your bathroom after a shower.

Natural handwoven fabrics tend to shrink 3-5%, so please wash this textile before you create any products that will require washing at a later date.

Suitable For:

Aprons, Bags and Accessories, Belts, Blinds, Curtains & Pelmets, Embroidery, Hand Sewing, Jeans, Machine Sewing, Shirts, Soft Furnishings, Skirts & Dresses, Tops and Tunics, Toys, Trousers & Shorts, Upholstery

Sewing Experience: ideal for novice sewers.

Wholesale And Restocking

Stepped pricing is available on 25 metres and over, so please inquire if you are looking for large amounts. We love working with brands: purchase one metre and upwards directly from the website and email us for wholesale quantities for bulk production when you're ready. We welcome large and small orders from brands of all sizes.

Please note

Please note that refunds are not possible once fabrics have been cut, unless in the unfortunate event that your material arrives damaged. Please order a swatch before purchasing your metre lengths. Please see our Refunds and Cancellation Policy page for full details.

Due to the nature of handwoven and hand-printed fabrics, there can be irregularities in the weave and print, along with variations in batch dye colour. We have quality controlled this fabric. However, there could be minor irregularities that we love and see as normal and charming. If you are unhappy with the material you purchase, please let us know, and we'll do our best to rectify it immediately: info@offsetwarehouse.com.

Beautiful fabric and excellent customer service!

There was a mix up with my order (the team were in the process of moving warehouses) and the wrong fabric was sent out by accident, but the team at Offset Warehouse were amazing and the right fabric was sent straight out with heartfelt, humble apologies. And the fair trade twill fabric I ordered was totally worth the wait - it’s beautifully soft and exactly what I was looking for. I’ll definitely order from Offset again!
