Ethical and Sustainability Considerations
Recycled materials ensure that post-consumer waste is utilised rather than virgin resources. This yarn is created from ECONYL® regenerated nylon, where the raw material comes from discarded fishing nets, fabric scraps, carpet flooring and industrial plastic. This is a durable and long-lasting material that has been heavily tested. There are developments in place to allow future recycling of elastane materials, including ECONYL®'s Regeneration System.
By choosing a fabric made from recycled yarn over virgin, you are actively taking a stand to limit crude oil use. It also benefits ocean clean-up and the jobs associated with that. While not a straightforward solution, it provides an opportunity for now, while sights are set on the future saving of our finite resources.
The fibre is GRS Certified, an international, voluntary, full product standard that sets requirements for third-party certification of recycled content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices and chemical restrictions.
The fabric also has Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification, which ensures that the material has been tested for harmful substances and that the textile is, therefore, harmless in human ecological terms. Tested by independent regulators, it cannot be falsified.
The fabric is manufactured by Jersey Lomellina, a world-renowned production facility in Italy focused on researching and developing high-quality warp-knitted materials for sports and swimwear. They are ISO 14001 accredited. ISO 14001 is an environmental management certification supporting a framework for measuring and improving environmental impact.
Sewing experience: Ideal for sewers with moderate experience.
To Care for Your Product
Suitable for the washing machine at cool temperatures. For best results, hand wash in cool-luke warm water with mild detergent and air dry (drip dry, without wringing).
It is recommended not to tumble dry this material. Please do not leave it in direct sunlight. Do not use chlorine bleach. Do not iron.
Following these instructions will reduce water and energy consumption and keep your material in use for longer. Sunlight and hot temperatures degrade both polyamide and elastane.
