A floaty, lightweight indigo blue chambray handwoven in a Fairtrade accredited women-led cooperative.
Price is per metre. Multiple quantities will be cut as a continuous length.
Chambray is characterised by the yarn-dyed process involving a beautiful blend of white threads woven for the weft (horizontal yarn) with dark indigo for the warp (vertical yarn). It has a linen look to it with a 'dry' hand feel.
It has a soft drape and coolness that makes it perfect for summer clothing, bedding and curtains. We appreciate eco textiles that can be used for fashion and interiors, plus has a unique charm you won't find with other chambrays.
The handwoven nature of this fabric allows it to have a very special selvedge, the red and white line edging instead of the fraying you see with machine-made textiles. This makes for a beautiful design feature.
Pair the fabric with organic cotton thread in slate blue or darker indigo blue and some beautiful, ethical buttons. Not sure if the fabric's right for you? Pick up a swatch first, or get in touch with our expert team who will respond within one working day: info@offsetwarehouse.com.

The spinning and weaving of the yarns and bleaching of the finished fabric are all done in a female-led co-operative in rural India, certified Fair Trade by the WFTO (World Fair Trade Organisation). Organic cotton is grown without pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilisers and is picked by hand to retain the integrity of the cellulosic fibre. Non-GMO seeds are used in organic cotton cultivation, ensuring that the farmers are not caught in a web of debt with large companies. This organic cotton is non-certified as a transitional crop to help support farmers and small communities who cannot yet afford the certification.
All cotton production uses a lot of water and chemicals in its production. However, this fabric is created using rain-fed organically-cultivated cotton, spun and woven with little electricity, and with low-impact natural dyes. The fabric itself is biodegradable under the right conditions. However, due to the authenticity of the weave and fabric hand feel, you'll want to cherish this fabric.

To Care for Your Product
Suitable for the washing machine and tumble dryer. Turn the machine down to 30 degrees for a more environmentally friendly wash. In Europe alone, if every household turned its washing temperature down to 30°C, we could save 12 million tons of CO2 annually.
We also recommend line drying, which reduces energy usage and looks after your textiles for longer. Use a mild detergent, light botanical refresher, or steam the item you've made in your bathroom after a shower.
Stepped pricing is available for 25 metres and over, so please inquire if you are looking for large amounts. We love working with smaller brands: purchase one metre and upwards directly from the website and email us for wholesale quantities for bulk production when you're ready. We welcome large and small orders from brands of all sizes. See our full wholesale guidelines here.
Please note that refunds are not possible once fabrics have been cut, unless in the unfortunate event that your material arrives damaged. Please order a swatch before purchasing your metre lengths. Please see our Refunds and Cancellation Policy page for full details.
Due to the nature of handwoven and hand-printed fabrics, there can be irregularities in the weave and print, along with variations in batch dye colour. We have quality controlled this fabric. However, there could be minor irregularities that we love and see as normal and charming. If you are unhappy with the material you purchase, please let us know, and we'll do our best to rectify it immediately: info@offsetwarehouse.com.
This handwoven chambray is full of texture and character but is beautifully soft and lightweight and drapes perfectly. I had to use the gorgeous red selvedge too!
This fabric is the loveliest cotton I have worked with. I washed it before cutting my pattern and as it’s a fine fabric, I expected a bit of distortion. Not a bit of it. A quick iron and it was ready to go. It does not fray easily and it sewed up with no problems. It is soft enough to make baby clothes. I love it. Thank you
