A smooth, substantial-feeling fabric made from certified organic linen in a natural oatmeal colour. The textile is slightly translucent, due to a more open weave, so you may want to line the material for clothing. This makes it perfect for curtains and blinds, however. The weight and neutral colour also makes it lovely for interiors such as cushions, as an embroidery base, and for painting canvas even! For clothing, it's great for trousers, jackets, easywear dresses and tunics.
Limited quantity, once it's gone it's gone!
Linen is a hardy material that doesn't need any additional water for irrigation - just rain water - unlike cotton, which needs an awful lot. The flax plant does need to be replanted each year, but it actually helps keep the soil fertile. Produced in Belgium, the carbon footprint is kept within that country with just a minimal amount to us here, and also production facilities are generally top notch.
Linen wears beautifully for many years, and darns nicely too. This fabric has also been saved from landfill due to overstock. Breathable and versatile.
To care for your product
Suitable for the washing machine and tumble dryer. Medium-hot iron.
Turn the machine down to 30 degrees for a more environmentally friendly wash. In Europe alone, if every household turned its washing temperature down to 30°C, we could save 12 million tons of CO2 a year.
We also recommend line drying as this reduces energy usage and looks after your textiles for longer. Use a mild detergent, light botanical refresher or even just steam the item you've made in your bathroom after a shower.
