A super soft single jersey in a light ivory hue made from milk fibre. Yes, milk!
Milk production results in a lot of by-product due to legislation that prevents "unhealthy" milk from being traded, so textile innovators came up with a way to take the unwanted milk protein casein and transform it for technical purposes into yarn. The protein is extruded in a similar way to other technical fibres with a spinnaret, meaning that water consumption is kept low. However, as this is a new fibre, the production is a closely guarded secret. We are currently the only visible supplier of this amazing fibre.
Blended with eco viscose for durability, this jersey is knitted ethically in Italy. Eco viscose is wood pulp that comes from sustainably-managed forests. Viscose helps add slinkiness to the material.
The jersey is knitted fine, with a slight translucency. Soft and good for your skin, with a natural breathable feeling. It has also been Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified, so that you know it doesn't contain or ws produced with any nasties. While this is a high-tech material, the applications don't need to be - perfect for underwear, sleepwear, loungewear, t-shirts and dresses, pillowcases. At 180cm wide, you also have a lot to work with. Being a natural fibre without any need for dyeing, in the right conditions this will biodegrade.
To care for your product:
Suitable for hand and machine wash but at low temperatures.
Turn the machine down to 30 degrees for a more environmentally friendly wash. In Europe alone, if every household turned its washing temperature down to 30°C, we could save 12 million tons of CO2 a year.
We also recommend line drying as this reduces energy usage and looks after your textiles for longer. Use a mild detergent, light botanical refresher or even just steam the item you've made in your bathroom after a shower. Just a cool iron, if necessary.
You can also dry clean, but please use a responsible and trusted company.
