A lightweight, satin-weave, lustrous Tencel™ fibre fabric in a sophisticated, light duck egg blue.
Price is per metre. Multiple quantities will be cut in a continuous length.
This gorgeous fabric is immensely pliable and drapey. Made entirely of a patented sustainable fibre, Tencel™, this fabric has the quality of luxurious silk and the handle and ease of sewing of cotton, making it a particularly beautiful addition.
The lustre is subtle, with one side slightly less shiny than the other. Its light airiness gives it a "barely there" feeling, which lends itself well to blouses, lingerie, sleepwear, lined dresses and floaty skirts, gowns and evening wear, and accessories like shawls and scarves. It's lightweight enough to be suitable as a lining fabric for jackets and coats. For homewares, it would make for ethereal curtains and blinds and is comfortable and cooling on the skin, so ideal for bedding.
This eco Tencel™ textile is also available in marshmallow pink, sage green, apricot and ivory.

The yarn is produced by Lenzing Certified Suppliers in India using the patented eco Tencel™ process, and is woven into fabric within GOTS certified mills across India.
Tencel™ is a lyocell yarn produced using Lenzing's protocols, guidelines and processes and verified for ethics and sustainability across the chain. Lenzing ensures responsible production in various ways, from the sustainably managed forests where the eucalyptus is sourced, to the closed-loop production process (see below). Tencel™ yarn provides a responsible alternative to synthetic materials like polyester and silk derived from animals (so it is also a fantastic alternative for vegans).
The Tencel™ yarn production process verifies its managed raw material source to be sustainable. It also guarantees the closed-loop solvent and water process, meaning that 99.9% of solvents are recovered and re-used with water treatment in place. It reduces chemicals, energy and water used to produce synthetic materials and is a more responsible option than viscose, where limited traceability occurs.
Tencel™ is biodegradable. Biodegradation, for any raw material, can only occur in specific conditions, so we recommend labelling whatever you make with the composition of your garment. This will help ensure your item is re-used or recycled in the best way possible, with the most negligible environmental impact.
The yarn is machine-spun, which means it has exemplar consistency and quality throughout the weave of this machine-woven fabric. The colouration is also smooth and equal due to the fabric dyeing process and washes very well. The dyes are certified azo-free - azo is an organic compound used in dyes and is a known carcinogen - and all fabric is dyed within a GOTS certified mill.
Due to the care and consideration of the low impact processes, this fabric's dyeing and weaving processes are certified under the Global Organic Textile Standard.
Suitable for the washing machine and tumble dryer. Iron med-hot temperature, preferably with steam, as it can crease easily.
Turn the machine down to 30 degrees for a more environmentally friendly wash. In Europe alone, if every household turned its washing temperature down to 30°C, we could save 12 million tons of CO2 a year.
We also recommend line drying, reducing energy usage and looking after your textiles for longer. Use a mild detergent, light botanical refresher or steam in your bathroom after a shower.
This textile has been finished and washed, but we recommend washing all fabrics before making any products in case of additional shrinkage. Dependent on your machine, detergent and laundering methods, shrinkage can still occur.
