A beautiful, printed, fairtrade fabric, featuring a turquoise-blue print on a cloudy white base. The design, an authentic print originating in India, has been printed on the fabric using a "hand-block" technique, giving the fabric has a truly rich and authentic feel. The dyes that have been used are completely ironable and colourfast (although we always recommend washing your fabrics before you make). The printed organic fabric is lightweight and completely opaque, with a crisp texture, good drape and a full body. Furthermore, the close, even weave of the fabric is unusual to find in hand-woven textiles. It will soften a little in the wash, and creases iron out easily. Due to the hand-woven style of the fabric, it may contain some small weaving irregularities, but this adds to its rustic appearance and doesn't affect the look or quality. The dyes used are azo-free, and the cotton is uncertified organic and totally biodegradable. In addition, the weaving and printing is done in a cooperative and is certified Fair Trade by WFTO. As the printed organic fabric is handmade, the process uses virtually no energy or water! This print is also available in muslin. Please note - if you purchased samples before 4th March, the print for this current batch is a little heavier and more turquoise - these fabrics are printed by hand, so small changes between batches, such as this, can sometimes occur.
