Black Wool Gabardine

130-black-wool-gabardine-OTR

Regular price £35.00 Sale price £21.00

A drapey wool gabardine produced in Italy. This cloth is completely opaque, so you don't need to line the material or double it for clothing. Perfect for most clothing, with the hardy gabardine weave making the fabric best for trousers, skirts and jackets. Gabardine has an even weave that looks smooth but has an ever so slight texture.

Limited quantity, once it's gone it's gone!

Please note: this fabric will need washing before use. It has some dusty marks on it that will not brush off, so washing is best. The price has been reduced accordingly.

Ethical production:

Although not an organic wool, Italy is known for its quality production of luxury wool suiting in impressive environmentally sound and ethically run facilities.

Sustainability:

Gabardine is a durable fabric, woven to last. As wool is natural, this fabric can ideally be biodegraded at the end of its life, but in all likelihood will last a very long time due to its quality production. Woven in Italy, and also a fabric saved from landfill due to overstock, this also has a low carbon footprint.

To care for your product:

Although wool is best when dry cleaned, this can be machine washed on a delicate setting, or hand washed in luke warm water. Use a mild detergent, or simply freshen up in your bathroom after a shower.

Turn the machine down to 30 degrees for a more environmentally friendly wash. In Europe alone, if every household turned its washing temperature down to 30°C, we could save 12 million tons of CO2 a year.

Ideal For:

Hand Sewing; Machine Sewing; Clothing including jackets, skirts, lined dresses, trousers and shorts; Soft Furnishings, including cushion covers; Accessories and bags; Embroidery and millinery
