Lightweight and beautifully drapey, this soft tencel, wool and cotton blend is unlike anything we've ever come across before. The textile floats and drapes incredibly, with an elegant, ethereal feel. It is smooth and silky to the touch. The high spun fibres gives the fabric a beautiful, subtle sheen - almost dewy. It is a solid black, making it a perfect for everyday work or casual clothing.

The combination of wool, cotton and tencel offers this fabric both cooling and warming properties, with lyocell (Tencel) known to be good for sensitive skin. It is made from 49% Cotton, 46% Tencel and 5% Wool.

Ethical production:

Woven within a co-operative in Thailand, the overall production is slower and beneficial to this community. The processing and fibre dyeing uses low impact non-azo dyes protecting the people who created the textile, and our skin afterwards. There isn't any traceability on the raw materials, so cannot vouch for the welfare of the sheep the wool came from and the cotton is non-organic, though the materials were explained to be by-products i.e. waste.

Sustainability:

Both silk and wool are fibres with longevity, that age well and need little washing. Tencel is a regenerated cellulose made from eucalyptus trees, a renewable resource, though this fibre is not traceable i.e. may not be closed loop for the chemicals. The fibre blend means that any garment you create with this fabric will last a long time and will wear nicely.

To care for your product:

Hand wash at cold temperature or machine wash on a cold woollen or delicate cycle. You might find that it doesn't retain odours (the benefits of wool!) so you could hang up in your bathroom after a shower, or use a mild garment freshener. Line drying is always best. Use an eco dry cleaner if you make a structured garment or suit with lining material. The composition lends itself well to machine washing, but best to do so delicately anyway, just to make sure.

Blinds, Blouses, Curtains & Pelmets, Embroidery, Hand Sewing, Lining & Pocketing, Loungewear, Machine Sewing, Scarves & Neckwear, Shirts, Soft Furnishings, Summer Skirts & Dresses, Tops & Tunics, Trousers & Shorts
