Lightweight, matt fabric in a modern buffalo plaid with a lovely drape on the bias. Brushed on one side, the material is incredibly soft and comfortable with a dry and warm handle. It's opaque, so no lining or doubling of the fabric is required for garments. It has been machine woven, so the quality is consistent and smooth.
The checks measure: each colour block is 37mm (weft) x 40mm (warp).
It's wide at 57"/145cm, so ideal for projects requiring larger pattern pieces, such as skirts or jackets. Ethical and Sustainability Considerations:
Helping to support small production clusters in India, this cotton fabric is produced in a power loom unit utilising both pre-consumer cotton waste and post-consumer polyester textile discard. It is Global Recycle Standard certified as assured by Control Union.
As the fibres are recovered from textile waste, no additional dyes are required, making it a low-impact textile that utilises existing resources.
Sewing Experience: Suitable for beginners, brushed cotton is very straightforward to sew, as it is stable and non-slippery.
To care for your product:
Suitable for the washing machine and tumble dryer. Iron cool-medium temperature, but it is suggested to do so when damp or spray a little water on it first to protect the brushed finish, and iron on the reverse if possible. Also, try not to twist and, if possible dry flat.
Turn the machine down to 30 degrees for a more environmentally friendly wash. In Europe alone, if every household turned its washing temperature down to 30°C, we could save 12 million tons of CO2 annually.
We also recommend line drying, which reduces energy usage and looks after your textiles for longer. Use a mild detergent, light botanical refresher or steam the item you've made in your bathroom after a hot shower.
Due to the nature of recycled fabrics, there may be slight irregularities in the weave caused by yarn differences, e.g. slubs.
Please note that refunds are not possible once fabrics have been cut, unless in the unfortunate event that your material arrives damaged.
