A midnight blue ikat that has been spun, dyed and woven by hand, with flecks of white dyed strands that run down the fabric. The production of the fabric from it's fibre form requires absolutely no electricity. We have sourced this fabric directly from a small weaving village in Thailand and all sales directly support this community and ensure that the weavers are paid fair wages. This is an incredibly soft, thick, mediumweight fabric, with a beautiful drape. It is strong, durable and completely opaque - so there is no need to double it up. Each metre of fabric takes approximately four hours to weave, and an entire bolt takes over a month. Despite the traditional, hand methods used to create the textile, the design is timeless and fits seamlessly with today's contemporary style. The weight and design of the fabric is ideal for both garments and home furnishings. There is a bit of give on the bias, and it drapes wonderfully. The fabric has been yarn-dyed (the yarn is dyed before it is woven) with natural indigo dyes, and no chemical mordants are used. The material is warm to touch and smooth with a slight texture due to the thick yarns. As the fabric is 100% cotton, it is totally biodegradable. The fabric is colourfast and pre-shrunk, but we always recommend that fabrics are washed before use.
The latest batch of our flecked ikat is slightly lighter with more flecks than the previous one. (Flecks are now included in both the warp and the weft) If you bought a sample before 9th November 2016 and would like to receive a free sample of the newer version, just get in touch: email@example.com.

Suitable for the washing machine & tumble dryer.
Turn the machine down to 30 degrees for a more environmentally friendly wash. In Europe alone, if every household turned its washing temperature down to 30°C, we could save 12 million tons of CO2 a year
