Regular price £16.98

A beautiful, indigo-dyed blue cotton fabric with stunning geometric floral print. The cotton is handspun and handwoven, and the material is hand-printed by a small, fairtrade certified cooperative in India.

Price is per metre. Multiple quantities will be cut as a continuous length.

Fabric Description

A naturally indigo-dyed fabric with a sophisticated geometric floral design. The material is printed and dyed by hand, giving it a vibrant and authentic feel. When you purchase this fabric, you directly support the weaver who created it. You can be reassured that they are guaranteed a fair price for their beautiful handcraft, as the producers are the World Fair Trade Organisation members. The fabric is lightweight and has a matt, dry texture and smooth drape. Because it's a handwoven fabric, it may contain some minor weaving irregularities, but this adds to its rustic appearance and doesn't affect the look or quality. The dyes used to colour the fabric are azo-free and ironable, and the textile is pre-washed (although we always recommend washing your fabrics with like colours before you make). The fibres are 100% natural and biodegradable. The weaving and printing are done in a cooperative and, as mentioned before, are certified Fair Trade by the World Fair Trade Organisation. As this indigo-dyed fabric is handmade, the process uses virtually no energy. You'll also notice it softens in the wash and that the creases iron out quickly.

Pair with sustainable buttonsnatural elastics and organic cotton threads in Indigo or contrast thread in White.

Ethical and Sustainability Considerations:

The cotton fabric is handwoven on wooden looms by artisans from Saurashtra, and the material is processed in Ahmedabad in West India. The cotton fibre used for this fabric is spun and woven within small artisan clusters within a community known as a "khadi cluster" and accredited the KVIC Khadi Mark. The spinners and weavers set their prices for their work. The fibres are 100% natural and biodegradable. As this fabric is handmade, the process uses virtually no energy or carbon footprint.

The cotton is grown, spun and processed without any chemicals. Although it does not have organic certification, due to the additional expense this incurs, which the weavers can not currently afford, this is far better for people and the planet than conventional cotton. Organic cotton is better for our soil because no pesticides, chemical fertilisers or herbicides have been used. It means that no toxic substances are passed on in the processing and then through to the finished fabric.

The natural indigo dye used for the material is azo-free, totally ironable, and colourfast (although we always recommend washing your fabrics before you sew).

To care for your product:

Suitable for washing machines below 30°C and tumble dryers. To protect fabrics for longer, hand wash in cool water. Suitable for irons med-hot temperature.

Turn the machine down to 30 degrees for a more environmentally friendly wash. In Europe alone, if every household turned its washing temperature down to 30°C, we could save 12 million tons of CO2 annually.

We also recommend line drying as this reduces energy usage and looks after your textiles for longer (as they don't get bashed around in your tumble dryer). Use a mild detergent, light botanical refresher, or steam the item you've made in your bathroom after a shower.

Natural handwoven fabrics have a natural tendency to shrink 3-5%, so please wash this textile before you create any products that will require washing at a later date.

Wholesale And Restocking

Stepped pricing is available on 25 metres and over, so please inquire if you are looking for large amounts. We love working with smaller brands: purchase one metre and upwards directly from the website and email us for wholesale quantities for bulk production when you're ready. We welcome large and small orders from brands of all sizes.

Please note

Please note that refunds are not possible once fabrics have been cut, unless in the unfortunate event that your material arrives damaged. Please order a swatch before purchasing your metre lengths. Please see our Refunds and Cancellation Policy page for full details.

Due to the nature of handwoven and hand-printed fabrics, there can be irregularities in the weave and print, along with variations in batch dye colour. We have quality controlled this fabric. However, there could be minor irregularities that we love and see as normal and charming. If you are unhappy with the material you purchase, please let us know, and we'll do our best to rectify it immediately: info@offsetwarehouse.com.

Beautiful

This fabric has the MOST beautiful batik print, but the hand is even more incredible. It feels like a high end organic linen or something. Can't wait to make it up
