In between a georgette and an organza fabric, this "washed" misty white fabric is made using Global Recycle Standard-certified recycled polyester yarn that comes from post-consumer PET (plastic) bottles.

This recycled textile has a textured hand feel, and it is this texture that also gives the fabric a characteristic "mistyness"; it is still sheer but especially when layered takes on a translucency. It is luxurious both in handle and appearance and does not necessarily shout synthetic. It is soft on the skin, but has the classic crispness of organza attained during the yarn production and weaving process. The texture offers friction so would not be slippy to wear, and would create structure when layered. It also bounces back easily when crinkled (it does leave minor creasing yet the texture somewhat hides this).

Suitable for bridalwear, partywear, fashion, millinery, crafts as well as linings. It could also be used in interiors as blinds or room separators, table runners and pelmets. As it is soft on the skin, it could also be used for certain lingerie like soft bras.

Ethical production:

This fabric is made in China with Japanese Quality Control Inspection and traceability system.

Sustainability:

Recycled materials ensure that post-consumer waste is utilised rather than virgin resources. As this is 100% polyester, it can be recycled again (in the right system).

GRS (Global Recycle Standard) is an international, voluntary, full product standard that sets requirements for third-party certification of recycled content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices and chemical restrictions. The production facility is GRS-certified for all recycled fabrics in their range.

This recycled fibre comes from the RENU project. In comparison to virgin-derived polyster, RENU can reduce water, reduce CO2 emissions, and also take waste material from clothing (which they also use for some of their materials).

To care for your product:

Suitable for the washing machine and cool tumble drying, but we recommend cooler washing and air drying to protect the life of the synthetic fibre.

Turn the machine down to 30 degrees for a more environmentally friendly wash. In Europe alone, if every household turned its washing temperature down to 30°C, we could save 12 million tons of CO2 a year. We recommend line drying as this reduces energy usage and looks after your textiles for longer. Use a mild detergent, light botanical refresher or even just steam the item you've made in your bathroom after a shower. This particular fabric springs back nicely, but iron if necessary on a low heat temperature.

Ideal For:

Blinds, Blouses, Bridalwear, Childrenswear, Costume, Embroidery (backing), Fashion, Gowns, Hand Sewing, Lining & Pocketing, Machine Sewing, Millinery, Partywear, Skirts & Dresses, Underwear & Lingerie, Wedding
