Jersey Lomellina is a world-renowned production facility in Italy, who are focussed on the research and development of high quality warp-knitted fabrics for sports and swimwear. Though there are no ethcial accreditations for their facility (it is focussed on the environment), Italy does have stringent regulations.
The capture of pre- and post-consumer polyamide materials does also increase employment in nations where for instance, fishing net discard is high. While not an inherently ethical solution, it is an opportunity for now.
Recycled materials ensure that post-consumer waste is utilised rather than virgin resources. This yarn is created from ECONYL® regenerated nylon, where the raw material comes from discarded fishing nets, fabric scraps, carpet flooring and industrial plastic. This is a durable and long-lasting material that has been heavily tested. There are developments in place to allow future recycling of materials containing elastane, including ECONYL®'s own Regeneration System.
By choosing a fabric made from a recycled yarn over virgin, you are actively making a stand for limiting crude oil use. It also benefits ocean clean up and the jobs associated with that. While not a straightforward solution, it provides opportunity for now, while sights are set on the future saving of our finite resources.
GRS Certification is an international, voluntary, full product standard that sets requirements for third-party certification of recycled content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices and chemical restrictions.
ISO 14001 refers to an environmental management certification that supports a framework for the measurement and improvement of environmental impact.
Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification ensures that the fabric has been tested for harmful substances and that the textile is therefore harmless in human ecological terms. Tested by independent regulators, it cannot be falsified.
To care for your product:
Suitable for the washing machine, but use a cool temperature. For best results, hand wash in cool-luke warm water with mild detergent and air dry (drip dry, without wringing).
It is recommended not to tumble dry this material. Do not leave it in direct sunlight. Do not use chlorine bleach. Do not iron.
Following these instructions will reduce water and energy consumption, but importantly will keep your material in use for longer. Sunlight and hot temperatures degrade both polyamide and elastane.
